    After all the tastings do you detect a real regional difference in U.S. beers?

      Rich, I do and I don’t. Overall, I don’t think there’s a huge difference. Traditionally, styles developed from the local ingredients, laws, and climates of the specific brewing region. Today, brewers can adjust their water to taste like it’s from Pilsen, Munich or London, and get malts or hops from all over the world. The equipment is all temperature controlled, and can handle most styles a brewer would choose to create.

      That said, I think both West Coast IIPAs and Midwest IIPAs have distinct styles. However, anyone from across the country (world) can recreate these beers if they put their mind to it.

    Thanks for the great show. As a native Texan over 40, I’ve seen our little beer world explode over the past few years, and it’s cool seeing y’all give some of our beer a review. Real Ale, Karbach, Deep Ellum, (512) and Jester King are my favorites here in Texas — I’ll stay tuned to see if y’all get around to any more from Tejas. Thanks again!

About the Temple

The Beer Temple is a craft beer store, owned and operated by Chris and Margaret Quinn of Chicago, Illinois. Chris is a Siebel Institute Master of Beer Styles and Evaluation, and also a Certified Cicerone. Margaret is a Certified Beer Server, and has completed classes at the Siebel Institute.

Hours of Operation

Monday-Thursday 11:00am-8:00pm
Friday-Saturday 11:00am-9:00pm
Sunday 12:00pm-5:00pm

The Beer Temple is located at 3185 N. Elston Avenue, at the corners of Belmont, Elston and California Avenues. Free parking behind the building!!
