Episode #64: Goose Island Bourbon County Brand Coffee Stout 2011

Following ironically in the footsteps of the ‘easy to get beers’ episode is a beer that is surely NOT going to be easy to get. Goose Island’s Bourbon County Coffee Stout is one of the most sought after beers in America. Chris and Margaret get their hands on a bottle early to find out if the hype is worth it.

  1. From "ChrisQ" :

Yes, VERY much, Castello. In beer circles, “dank means herbal, resinous, and marijuana-like aromas” Skunky is, well, skunky smelling.

  2. From "Omar" :

And now I want a Ding Dong with my Chunky…

  3. From "Margaret" :

Maybe we can have a junk food and beer pairing episode!

  4. From "Russ Perry Jr" :

I actually laughed out loud (here at work) at the “not for the faint of heart”. I suppose I may have to look for a bottle of this in addition to the Bramble Rye, even though I’ve had it previously, given it’s a different coffee…

PS: Was that ending an homage to Police Squad? 🙂

  5. From "ChrisQ" :

Russ, Yeah it was a little bit of Police Squad there for sure. It would have been better if I had been pouring a beer.

  6. From "Russ Perry Jr" :

…or had Max been nosing his way around while you and Margaret were still.

I had to come back to this video, too, to recall how you’d rated it, after seeing the (regular) BCS tasting, which you gave a 99, saying you’d left 100 for the coffee one. Sorry it wasn’t quite up to the task, but 97 is nothing to sneeze at! Definitely a world class beer. Wish I hadn’t missed out on the blueberry one…

  7. From "JerryR" :

It doesn’t matter that what you say on your podcast about flavor profiling and such is 95% BS, Goose Island sends direct to your door some of the worlds best and hard to get beers. Now that I can respect!

  8. From "Kristen" :

I have been searching everywhere to buy Goose Island Bourbon County Coffee stout. Would you be able to help with this search? Tell me where I can get it or order it from?

  9. From "Kate" :

Any idea where I can also purchase the 2011 bourbon county anymore?
