Episode #37: Wee Heavy

It goes by many names: Wee Heavy, Scotch Ale, 120 Shilling. Whatever you call it, these high-octane Scottish beers are a malt-lover’s delight.

  1. From "castello" :

The beer caps fly way better when they aren’t bent! I want one of those openers.
Great show. Never heard of a Wee Heavy.
“Rating our Favorite beers for you” is my catch line for now.
I wish I could rate you on Itunes but I ain’t going near that place again. I could prolly put you over the top of the hops so maybe I’ll try again soon.

  2. From "Russ Perry Jr" :

I’m guessing you might have been calling me out for the Scotty Karate thing…

Story is that at a tasting at Brasserie Jo in Chicago, I came up to the Dark Horse table to ask for a pour, and I realized the guy pouring looked oddly familiar, and it occurred to me that the guy on the Scotty Karate label could be a caricature of the guy in front of me.

So I asked, “Are you Scotty Karate?”

He answered, “Yeah. You got any weed?”

Had to disappoint the guy, but at least I got a laugh out of it, and the beer.

  3. From "Steve" :

Closing line “Help support our Breweries”
